About me therapies

Below is a list of  bodywork therapies I specialize in and provide to my clients

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

This is my standard therapy I offer to all of my clients.  Each of my clients has different needs, ailments, and physical conditions that need to be worked-out.  I tailor-make my therapeutic massages for each of these issues a client brings to me.  We discuss what needs to be done with his/her physical situation, and we devise a treatment plan to resolve or improve what the client has.  Please be advised that every situation is different; it may take one massage session, multiple weekly/bi-weekly/monthly sessions, or it may be a thing that is very routine which is in need for indefinite therapy.  There is no “one size fits all” remedy for most conditions.  Patience is TRULY a virtue with some cases.  I will try my absolute best to improve or resolve whatever ailment someone brings to me, but I make no promises.  If you understand that, my therapy will work for you much, MUCH better.

NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE

This is a method of treatment that includes assessment of tissues in order to locate dysfunctional areas existing where the nerve cells of the nervous system meet the muscle cells of the muscular system in our bodies. A regimented treatment including five specific steps is employed during this therapy. This is NOT about relaxation; it is about treating very specific ailments in an isolated region of the body. Constant communication is employed between the therapist and the client during this therapy. The problematic areas are either “trigger points” or “tender points”. Trigger points cause a referred pain pattern: pain that is felt in areas other than the point pressed. Tender points are strictly localized painful spots.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage is targeted for all athletes, weather they are novice, advanced, or professional. Event massage for this clientele is customized for the treatment before or after the event in which they are participating. Recovery massage is devised for returning muscles to normal tone, decrease delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), and decrease any inflammatory processes present at the time. Maintenance massage is applied to keep the athlete in optimal condition, Improve flexibility, and address any areas of potential problems that may inhibit future athletic performance.

REFLEXOLOGY

This is a form of acupressure applied to the foot, hand, or ear. On each of these regions, there are pin-point areas that correspond to every internal organ in the body. By working these specific points, I can have a profound positive effect on each of the corresponding organs, and thus improve the condition of those organs. Most ailments have something to do with an internal organ or body system that involves an organ. By applying reflexology to the areas of the foot that correspond such an area, a person’s signs or symptoms involving that organ or body system can be significantly improved or even eliminated. The beauty of this therapy is the non-invasive nature of it: the only clothing removal is that of the feet.

ZEN SHIATSU

Shiatsu is an Eastern Asian therapeutic form of massage using deep pressure to stimulate the same points used in acupuncture. Releasing these points opens the channels of energy (known as “chi” in Chinese medicine and “Ki” in Japanese therapy), and blood flow to nourish the internal organs, glands, muscles, nerves, and vital centers of the body. The word shiatsu means “finger pressure” in Japanese. It is a form of manipulation administered by the thumbs, fingers, and palms to apply pressure to the human skin with the intent to correct internal malfunctioning and maintain health. It stimulates the body’s natural curative powers by releasing excess lactic acid and carbon dioxide that contribute to muscular problems. A system of twelve meridians exist along the body, with a multitude of specific points along each meridian; shiatsu techniques stimulate these points for the maintenance and improvement of the human body’s health. This is a clothing-on style of massage, so no undressing is necessary, and it is performed on a mat lying on the floor.
